It’s been a few years in the series since Woli fought Ippo so I’m pretty sure he’s around the top ten by now in the WBC- a title opportunity just opened up, and Miyata can’t sit around forever. Recall an inexperienced Woli ALMOST beat an experienced Ippo, even the coach realized that an experienced Woli would beat Ippo so he said they would never fight again. there is a chance we can get Miyata vs an experienced Woli down the line. Woli was one of the champions in the OPBF, along with the OPBF champion (Miyata) those champions can rank around and face Miyata for a top spot and they can definitely rise up the rankings like how Ippo did, recall Ippo became the unofficial champion of the OPBF since he fought 3 national champions as the Japanese champion Sooooooo. Now I’m starting to wonder what Miyata’s current world ranking is and how he’ll come back into the story because of this. Note as well that Billy relinquished the title before a WBC mandatory title match- I wonder if THAT match was against Woli or maybe even Miyata. This is going to be important down the line! The WBC title is vacant right now!!! Sounds like there will need to be a fight to see who is the new champion. ***Lastly, very important note in this chapter!!! And after seeing the previous fight and his inner monologue this chapter- it’s obvious that he longs for that “something” too. You might ask why would Ricardo Martinez need to add more savage-ness in his mentality or something like that to his already “perfect” style? Cuz he’s a fucking man too. Like if he decides to add a more savage element to send a message to Sendo. I’ll be laughing if Ricardo goes through an “evolution” in this fight. I think Billy has potential to go farther than Date did, he’ll probably make Ricardo go GOD mode and Ricardo will just tear him a new one. Billy will obviously lose because let’s face it, there’s no way in hell Morikawa is going to have Ricardo lose here LOL A lot of us here thought it was going to be someone Ippo fought before OR even another “normal” world ranker, but the fact that it’s the former WBC champion makes it somewhat interesting.
